I really feel like Sonic Team isn't the right group to be making Sonic games anymore. After 2006, they took a massive hit in quality and never fully got back up. I really hate how characters besides Sonic tend to get ignored, cutscenes are boring, and how every game these days has to have more reused content than new content. Also the boost formula feels a bit too much "hold a button and go in a straight line" for my tastes, or at least that's how I see it.

Sonic Mania showed me that since it was so easy to have Tails and Knuckles be playable, have actually entertaining cutscenes, level design that requires actual effort to complete, and how Sonic Team forced them to reuse content as opposed to fully new levels like originally intended, someone else should be making the games from now on. Now all we need is a Sonic Adventure-equivalent of Mania...
