It's not too bad for a newcomer like me, but I'm sure it will be quite annoying for those who has already played this series for years.

That's why the Pokemon franchise finally stopped doing that. When we had to go through learning how to catch Pokemon again in Fire Red, there were a lot of people losing their minds over it. Anyone who hasn't played Pokemon by now probably just isn't interested. Same deal with other franchises.
